About Us
The Pennsylvania ABLE Savings Program (PA ABLE)
The Pennsylvania ABLE Savings Program (PA ABLE) is a state-offered program that gives individuals with qualifying disabilities a tax-advantaged way to save or invest without impacting their government benefits. All federal benefits are protected, including Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and, with some limitations, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, as are many Pennsylvania benefits.
The PA ABLE Saving Program was made possible following the passage of the federal Stephen Beck Jr., Achieving a Better Life Experience Act of 2014, which authorized states to create ABLE programs. In 2016, the Pennsylvania Achieving a Better Life Experience (PA ABLE) Act was passed and the Pennsylvania Treasury Department worked with many public and private stakeholders, advocates, and families in developing the PA ABLE Savings Program.

The PA ABLE Saving Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, an independent government department of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
